Hmmmm difficult one this one....
Silver Dirt are a swiss hard rock act, "Never Give Up" is their second release and the follow up to 2004's debut "Sonic Boom". They're a decent enough band, every member sounds like a highly talented musician and competent song writers, but that's where the plus points end for me.
Please don't get me wrong, there is absolutely nothing wrong with "Never Give Up", it's a very competent album and the songs aren't bad, they are just uninspired. Nearly every song is forgotten as soon as it's finished playing, and to be honest, Silver Dirt sound a lil like a half decent band just going through the motions.
I had to live with this CD for a while, I didn't want to judge it unfairly, but after repeated listens still nothing stands out to grab my attention. Sure there's the odd great riff, the odd almost catchy line, and the odd almost blinding solo, but as soon as it's finished playing it's gone and forgotten.
To be honest the next Silver Dirt album could be amazing, all they need is to find a lil inspiration and harden up their sound a touch.
