Dear Richie James Edwards '
Remember that band you were in a while back? Back in '91, when glam was on it's last legs, you guys put out the brilliant debut "Generation Terrorists". After the somewhat disappointing "Gold Against the Soul" and the incredible, if disturbing, "The Holy Bible" you went away. As you know, the band soldiered on with "Everything Must Go". It was a departure, but it still had it's moments.
Remember them? Well, I just heared the new CD and I have one thing to say. Alright, Ritchie. Joke's over. All is forgiven. You can come out now. What happened? Why is the band that was poised to take over the world writing jazzy musak? Where's the fire? Certainly they could have done SO much more with the song title "If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next". The energy only shows up in "Nobody Loved You" and, by that time, THE FUCKING ALBUM'S ALMOST OVER! Once, the Manics said that if any one of the members ever left or died or whatever, they would not continue. Many bands have made similar claims, but the Manic Street Preachers are the first to make good on this promise - this certainly isn't the Manic Street Preachers I remember
