The Joneses - Tits and Champagne

Nowadays there are more than plenty average bands whose peak musical moments have been made during a drug and alcohol infused blur. Rolling around, loving the feigned publicity of a hit record produced during a high. Of course blessed with endless contracts, kiss ass assistants, near perfect lifestyles and high tech recording facilities. There's no passion in over produced perfection and often a genuine lust for life and all its perversities make the ideal setting for a good sound. Take The Dolls for instance, not the most fantastic musicians and many early live shows were a management's nightmare but the love and energy (and intoxication) put into their performances, excited and infatuated. Which is why the Hollywood Joneses must be on everyone's 'to do' list. Every true rock n roll fans easy listening history lesson or just a blast from the past, either way you cannot ignore an EP entitled 'Tits and Champagne' now can ya?!

You don't need to look far to find out a fair bit about the band fronted by Jeff Drake, a Stiv cross Keith Richards type loveable roguish character. Formed in LA in the mid 80's with various line up changes but the idea remaining the same. Real raw true life sleazy stories of sex drugs and rock n roll, and maybe a few tits and a lot of champagne. Six tracks of debauchery, huge impact low slung guitar glam riffs and lashings of Chuck Berry/Jerry Lee Lewis style influenced piano. An oddly enjoyable cover of 'Your Cheatin' Heart' and a raunchy remake of 'Route 66'. Enjoy!
