The Glitterati - S/T

The Glitterati have been making an impact in 2005 with extensive tours and appearing at Download plus Kerrang appearances so I really enjoyed a chance to sample their debut self titled album. I have to say that I was not disappointed in the least, this is a powerful first effort and it just rocks from the word go.

Better Man is a powerful opener and shows that the Glitterati are a pacey hard rock outfit, there's no weak songs here whatsoever. Their sound is crisp and clean similar to Backyard Babies and Beautiful Creatures, maybe even Stereophonics if that's not too much of a bad a thing. I have a sneaky suspicion that they would be very entertaining live so I'll be adding them to a long list of gigs to see before the end of 2005. The songs all have strong harmonies and the all round musicianship is very tight so I think the Glitterati will carve out a niche in the metal scene shortly if they've not already started to fulfil that feat.

The Glitterati definitely sound best on the up beat numbers on the CD, the slower ballads maybe didn't quite do it for me but that's no criticism, maybe just a personal preference. Anyway, there are a load of samples on their site so check them out for yourself and see what I mean.

This is definitely just the beginning for the Glitterati, we can expect to hear a lot more from the London based boys and given their hectic looking tour schedules, a lot of us will be seeing a lot more of these guys too.
