Foxy Roxx

Foxy Roxx's debutabum shook the foundations of glam three years ago. It was an impressive affair especially since tragic struck the band just a year earlier when the then lead vocalist Dennis Sinned died due to cancer (R.I.P). Drummer Tony Starlin switched to vocals and the following album established Foxy Roxx as one of the up ´n coming glambands.

Starlin; Bobby Soxx (bass); Robby Tripp (drums) and Jerry Vayne (guitars) started workingon their follow-up, entitled "Mixed up World", years ago but the album has been postponed on several occasions. As the foxcamp has been pretty quite lately, some rumours started circulating among the fans. As usual the tail grows taller way down the line. Everyone loves a good story, right? The Most widely spread version claimed that Foxy Roxx had split. Many fans have mailed Glitzine, asking about the condition of the band.

The Origin of the rumours is probably the delayed CD. Guitarist Jerr Vayne explains why "The hold up on the release of it is several things. The prime reason right now is we're not happy with the final results aka the final mix. After listening to it several times we've come to the conclusion that the mix sucks. This is the same studio & same engineer that did "Shake The Foundation". But for some reason the mix came out flat & lifeless. We've met with another studio and engineers to possibly re-mix it. The results of their rough mixes was incredible! The engineer we spoke with was very familiar with us and has done house mixes for several of our San Diego shows. Now is just the matter of getting the money up to do it." Not many bands are that accurate in their recordings. I rather wait on a big one than fall short with a disappointing product. I've seen too many glambands working their asses off in the studio until the whole situation gets so frustrating that it all falls apart though. I hope Foxy Roxx won't fall into that file.

Money shouldn't be a concern as glamrock is taking some serious steps back into thespotlight. Unfortunately the current condition of most glambands is way different though.   Plenty of bands can't afford to record or stay alive, Foxy Roxx is just one example of this tragic trend. One of the reasons is the pay-to-play policy of L.A. clubs. "Between the pay-to-play bullshit in Hollywood at the major clubs that we played at last year plus the amount of money spent on the recordings, we're broke. Pure and simple. We've got some prospects that we're looking at right now to finish it." That is the plain and painful truth.

Foxy Roxx won't play much this fall and the Ace Frehley tribute CD on which they were supposed to appear, is cancelled. You can enjoy the excellent "Hanging Out" on Delinquent Records' "Pink & Black" goth/glam compilation. This doubleCD is a "must-have" for every fan of glam/gothic rock, obtain it from Delinquent Records.

That's the circumstances for now. Foxy Roxx is very much alive and the CD will come out and when it does, you better be ready! From the material I've heard I can guarantee you that it the world will shake again, all mixed up. By the way, Jerry is getting married to his Eileen on October 24th. Send him your congratulations at foxyroxx@adnc.com
