September 14, 2010 – 02:31

Nottingham band Patchwork Grace have been voted the UK’s best new female fronted band by listeners of Kerrang! Radio. The title was bestowed on the band after an on-air promotion to celebrate the release of The Runaways movie. The band was shortlisted from hundreds of entrants by Kerrang! Radio presenters Kate Lawler, Loz Guest and Alex Baker to a final shortlist of four. Patchwork Grace recorded a live acoustic song at Kerrang! Radio, along with the other three shortlisted bands, and were interviewed on Kate Lawler’s afternoon show. It was then down to listeners to the station to vote for their favourite act. There were over 4000 votes cast and Patchwork Grace were declared the winners. The band won the chance to support a major act at a Live at Kerrang! event, £1000 worth of studio time and naturally Kerrang! Radio will be supporting the winners with airplay. The band recorded and acoustic version of Play Dead, a track taken from their latest EP of the same name that was produced by John Mitchell which was released in August. The acoustic version can be seen at URL along with footage from the time they spent at Kerrang! Radio
